Blue Jay Gold (TSXV: JAY) has begun drilling at the Becker-Cochran antimony-silver occurrence on its Steller Gold Project in southern Yukon, the first modern test of a prospect that last saw meaningful work in the mid-1960s.
Ten holes are planned. The program is designed to test the down-dip continuation of the mineralized shear zone below the two levels of underground development completed in 1964 and 1965, with holes stepped out along the strike length of those historical workings.
That earlier development barely scratched the system. It reached less than 100 metres below the surface outcrop, while Blue Jay interprets the mineralization as potentially extending roughly 600 metres deeper.
The surface expression supports that read. Stibnite needles occur in opaline silica and chalcedony textures, a signature that places the exposed showing near the top of the mineralized system rather than at its core.

“The underground development at Becker-Cochran stopped in the 1960’s because the antimony price collapsed, not because the target wasn’t promising,” said chief executive Geordie Mark, who added that mineralizing systems of this style extend laterally for several kilometres.
Antimony was first identified on the property in 1906, and Yukon Antimony Corporation Ltd. was formed in 1964 to advance it before the price of the metal undercut the work.
The drilling follows metallurgical testwork launched earlier this month on more than 400 kilograms of stibnite-rich material, with results expected in late September. The historical benchmark is a 1965 flotation test that recovered 92.8% of the antimony into a concentrate grading better than 62% antimony.
Becker-Cochran sits outside the current mineral resource estimate on the roughly 170 square kilometre property. Assays from the 2026 drill program at the Skukum Creek and Mt. Skukum gold-silver deposits are due in September.
Blue Jay Gold last traded at $0.71 on the TSX Venture.
