Wallbridge Halts Drilling at Detour-Fenelon as Quebec Wildfires Force Evacuation

Wallbridge Mining (TSX: WM) has pulled its crews off the Detour-Fenelon gold trend, halting all drilling after Quebec fire authorities ordered an evacuation as wildfire danger climbs across the region.

The order came late in the afternoon of July 1 from SOPFEU, the province’s forest fire agency, working alongside Quebec’s natural resources ministry. Wallbridge activated its emergency procedures the same day and moved all site personnel from the Fenelon camp to Amos.

With the camp emptied, drilling and related exploration work on the wholly owned property are suspended until officials clear a return. Chief Executive Brian Penny said the team carried out the evacuation safely and in an orderly fashion, and that activity will resume once authorities determine conditions are safe.

The company offered no firm restart date, leaving the timeline tied to how the fire situation evolves.

The stoppage lands in the middle of one of Wallbridge’s busier field seasons. The 2026 program calls for roughly 25,000 metres of drilling spread across the Fenelon, Martiniere, Casault and Grasset properties, with 17,000 metres of that earmarked for Martiniere.

Martiniere is being drilled in two stages. The first phase, already underway, builds on 2025 results and tests how far the gold system extends beyond the current resource. A second phase was slated to begin in early July and run through September, with its design shaped by what the opening round turns up.

Wallbridge Mining last traded at $0.095 on the TSX.
